Airbnb photography: which images help attract more bookings

The essential images and a clear gallery sequence for presenting a holiday apartment, rental villa or Airbnb listing.

Airbnb photography: which images help attract more bookings

On Airbnb and other holiday-rental portals, images need to do two jobs at once: explain the property and help guests imagine the experience. A gallery can look attractive yet still leave important questions unanswered. A carefully planned set of photographs makes the choice easier and builds trust.

1. Lead with one clear reason to book

The first image should show one of the property’s strongest booking advantages. This might be a terrace with a view, a pool, a bright living room or an especially appealing location. It does not need to show the entire home, but it should give people a reason to open the listing.

Avoid using a decorative close-up or a secondary room as the cover when it does not represent the accommodation clearly.

2. Arrange the gallery like a walkthrough

After the lead image, the photographs should tell an understandable story: living area, kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and outdoor spaces. A logical order explains the layout and prevents guests from having to reconstruct the home in their head.

Different angles are useful only when they add new information. Repeating the same room too many times makes a gallery longer, not more complete.

3. Show the amenities that influence bookings

Guests compare practical details. A pool, terrace, workspace, parking, air conditioning, coffee machine, barbecue, cot or beach access may be decisive for different audiences.

Photographs should confirm that these amenities are available and help guests understand how they fit into the accommodation.

4. Use natural light and realistic colour

A bright home feels inviting, but excessive editing can create expectations that the property cannot meet. The aim is to maintain clean whites, natural colour and visible window views when conditions allow.

Consistency also matters. A gallery with very different colour temperatures from one room to the next feels less considered.

5. Include outdoor spaces and relevant surroundings

In Málaga and across the Costa del Sol, terraces, pools, views and proximity to the sea are part of the product. Exterior photography helps place the experience in context, while drone content can add a perspective that is impossible to capture from ground level.

Images of nearby surroundings should remain relevant and must not create confusion about which spaces actually belong to the accommodation.

6. Photograph the home as guests will receive it

Prepared beds, clean textiles, arranged outdoor furniture and clear surfaces communicate a dependable standard. When the experience on arrival matches the listing images, it is easier to build trust and earn positive reviews.

7. Update the images when the property changes

A refurbishment, new furniture, an improved terrace or upgraded communal areas are good reasons to refresh the photography. Old images can hide valuable improvements or show features that are no longer present.

Photography, video and drone content for holiday rentals

A professional photography library can support the listing, website and social campaigns. Vertical video adds a quick visual tour, while drone coverage can be valuable for villas, developments and properties in an attractive setting.
